U.S. retail sales went kerplunk in May

Retail sales in the U.S. fell 0.3 percent last month, the biggest drop in 16 months, as low prices at the pump drove down revenues at gasoline retailers 2.4 percent. Retail sales for the first five months of the year are up 3.9 percent compared to the same period in 2016.
