Wendy’s Is Offering 1-Cent Burgers Through June 1. Here’s How To Get Yours

May 30, 2025

Wendy’s is celebrating National Hamburger Day in signature style — square patties, bold promotions, and a deal that might just be the most cost-effective burger purchase of the year.

From May 28 to June 1, the fast-food giant is offering customers a Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger for just 1 cent with any purchase. It’s part of a broader effort by Wendy’s to not only dominate headlines around National Hamburger Day but also to position itself for a competitive summer season in the quick-service industry.

Wendy’s Will Give You a Burger for a Penny

The 1-cent Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger offer is available exclusively to registered Wendy’s app or website users, according to TODAY. To redeem the deal, customers must place an order through either digital platform at participating U.S. locations. With any qualifying purchase, they can add a Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger — complete with fresh beef, crispy bacon, lettuce, tomato, mayo, and American cheese — for just $0.01.

The offer is a nod to National Hamburger Day, but it also serves a more significant strategic purpose: driving app engagement and digital ordering as Wendy’s leans further into loyalty programs and exclusive mobile deals.

The Summer of Savings: 100 Days of Offers

While the 1-cent burger may be the immediate draw, Wendy’s has its sights set on longer-term customer retention. Beginning June 7, the company will launch “100 Days of Summer,” a multi-month promotion featuring new weekly deals available exclusively through the Wendy’s app.

Among the early highlights: Every Saturday between June 7 and July 26, customers can score a $1 Dave’s Single with any purchase. As inflation continues to influence consumer dining choices, these app-only discounts offer value-driven solutions that could lure customers away from competitors in the increasingly saturated fast-casual burger space.

Other National Hamburger Day Promotions

Wendy’s isn’t the only brand leveraging National Hamburger Day for digital traffic and in-store footfall, even beyond the May 28 celebration day. Other major players are also rolling out their value-centric promotions, per TODAY:

  • Burger King: Offering a free hamburger with a $1 purchase for Rewards members.
  • Dairy Queen: Selling a second Signature Stackburger for $0.99 with the purchase of one through June 1.
  • Red Robin: Hosting a “Burgers for a Year” sweepstakes tied to any burger and beverage purchase.
  • Shake Shack: Giving away a free ShackBurger with orders of $10+ using the promo code BURGERMONTH through June 1.
  • Wayback Burgers: Offering exclusive loyalty member deals through the end of the month.
  • White Castle: Discounting $25 gift cards to $19.21 through May 30.

Wendy’s 1-cent burger may steal the spotlight, but the competition is fierce — and the battleground is mobile.

New Summer Menu: From Cajun Crunch to Tangerine Twist

Beyond promotions, Wendy’s is also using summer 2025 to showcase culinary innovation. On April 16, it launched the Cajun Crunch Chicken Sandwich, which combines seasoned chicken, Pepper Jack cheese, and crispy fried onions for a Southern-inspired flavor profile. It’s joined on the summer menu by the Tangerine Twist Lemonade, a fruit-forward beverage aimed squarely at consumers seeking seasonal refreshment.

The company has also collaborated with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products to revamp its kids’ meals, which now come with DC Super Heroes and Villains toys — including favorites like Batman, Harley Quinn, and Black Lightning. Meals include chicken nuggets, hamburgers or cheeseburgers, a side of fries or apple bites, and a kid’s drink.

Canada Gets the First Bite of Wendy’s Wildest Creation Yet

While American consumers enjoy digital deals and new menu items, Canadian customers are getting a sneak preview of a next-level burger experiment: the Grilled Cheese Cheeseburger. This bold creation features two grilled cheese sandwiches serving as the bun, sandwiching a quarter-pound beef patty with caramelized onions, mayo, and melted cheese.

The burger is currently available only in Canada. Still, its prominence in Wendy’s international marketing — an unusual move — has sparked speculation that it may debut in U.S. locations later this year.

Additionally, Wendy’s Canada is offering $1.99 small summer beverages, including Frosty-ccinos and Iced Coffees, with new flavor options such as vanilla, chocolate, and caramel.
