November 7, 2022
Nike said it will not launch Kyrie Irving’s Kyrie 8 sneakers because of social media posts he made promoting a documentary and book riddled with antisemitic tropes. “We believe there is no place for hate speech and we condemn any form of antisemitism,” Nike said in a statement. “We are deeply saddened and disappointed by the situation and its impact on everyone.” Mr. Irving was suspended for five games without pay after failing to apologize for antisemitic statements.
