Popeyes Unveils 2 New Limited-Time Menu Items — Including Chocolate Chip Biscuits

Popeyes has unveiled two new limited-time menu items for consumers to enjoy as the summer winds down. The two menu items are on the sweeter side — a nice complement to the latest savory menu items. Let’s take a look at what we know about the new offerings.

Popeyes’ Limited-Edition Menu Items

According to Allrecipes, the chicken chain has added Chocolate Chip Biscuits to its menu. The brand said in an email to the outlet that the new product “combines the beloved flavors of its iconic Buttermilk Biscuit with delectable chocolate chips into one delightful treat.” For an extra-indulgent breakfast, lunch, or dessert, the famously soft, buttery biscuits are studded with rich chocolate chips and topped with a drizzle of icing.

Additionally, Popeyes is introducing a brand-new Apple Caramel Cheesecake, which seems like the ideal way to ring in the fall.

The ultimate creamy, buttery, fall-flavored bite is created when this rich and creamy cheesecake is baked into a traditional graham cracker crust and swirled with a caramel apple filling.

As of Aug. 5 at select locations nationwide, the Chocolate Chip Biscuits and Apple Caramel Cheesecake are now available for a limited time only. So don’t hesitate to stop by the Popeyes drive-thru if you’re in the mood for some fall sweets.

Popular Instagram blogger Snackolator immediately made a post about the limited-time menu items, remarking that he was “going to need both immediately!” Moreover, Delish had a chance to get a sneak peek of both items and gave them both rave reviews (though the outlet preferred the chocolate chip biscuit over the cheesecake biscuit).

Sweet vs. Savory

These Popeyes offerings are the latest by the fast-food chain, which previously offered new savory items. Specifically, the fast-food chain announced that it was permanently adding five new chicken wing flavors to its menu.

Last November, the chain shared that customers throughout the country can savor Popeyes’ signature hot wings, roasted garlic parmesan, and honey barbecue. The popular wings from earlier in the year, Ghost Pepper and Sweet N’Spicy, will still be offered. These wings are competitively priced at $5.99 for a six-pack.

Popeyes North America President Sami Siddiqui clarified that the company’s decision to introduce wings was a response to consistent customer demand rather than a flimsy marketing strategy.

“In January, when we were running our Ghost Pepper wing, we saw incredible demand,” the president said at the time. “The offer was supposed to last for about six weeks. And we sold out of wings in two weeks. It was actually the most successful product and results we’ve seen since the infamous chicken sandwich.”

Siddiqui further disclosed that the biggest commercial success since the introduction of the company’s renowned chicken sandwich came from a later launch using a sweet and spicy sauce. When this sandwich was first released in 2019, it caused a stir in the fast-food business, with people swarming the restaurants and the stock running out in two weeks. When the sandwich was added back to the menu, Popeyes’s total sales increased.

Popeyes permanently added these five flavors to its menu in order to strengthen its position in the wing market after gauging consumer reactions to its wings. Siddiqui anticipated a robust reaction given the wings’ comparatively low cost, even though he didn’t think the zeal for wings would match the passion of the chicken sandwich rollout. Due to customers’ growing worry over their budgets, the fast-food chain is also benefiting from the success of other chains that have recently introduced chicken wings.
