A combination of Mastercard’s report yesterday of a winning holiday selling season and Amazon’s announcement that its online sales spiked 10 percent over last year kicked off a buying spree for retail stocks. By day’s end, retail stocks saw their biggest one day rise in 9 years, with Amazon up 9.5 percent and Kohl’s gaining 10 percent.
