Mall tenants signing shorter leases

The difficulties faced by many mall-based retailers has some looking to sign leases covering one or two years rather than the five to 10 that was common in years past. Cushman Wakefield expects up to 10,000 stores to close this year, up from 4,000 in 2016. The realty firm expects 13,000 stores to close in 2018.
