Rue21 may be next chain to file for bankruptcy protection

The teen clothing chain, Rue21, which was acquired by the private equity firm Apax Partners in 2013, may need to pursue a reorganization as sales at its mall-based stores have fallen off. The retailer issued a statement that it “has been working to improve its operations and enhance its liquidity position and has been actively engaged with its lenders and bondholders to explore the best path forward.”
