FreshDirect faced a multitude of distribution problems after it moved from its facility in Queens to a larger, more complex automated facility in the Bronx in 2018. As FreshDirect was botching consumers’ orders and failing to make delivery windows, Amazon.com and other online grocers moved into the New York metro market. Now, the company, which saw its market share drop by 20 points over a two-year period, is looking to rebuild trust and grow its business once again.
