Millions out of work caring for elderly parents and ill spouses

At least 6.6 million Americans who were not working in early March cited caring for another adult as the reason, according the most recent Household Pulse Survey from the Census Bureau. The number of people who say they are not working because they are looking after elderly parents, a spouse who is ill or another person is four times the number who say they cannot work because they need to care for their children.
