Social media makes retail comebacks more difficult

Marc Leder, CEO of Sun Capital Partners, is more cautious when making investments in troubled retailers and restaurant chains today because the proliferation of social media makes it harder to rehabilitate damaged brands. Mr. Leder points to Chipotle Mexican Grill where isolated incidents of foodborne illnesses at individual restaurants have dragged down the company’s shares by 21 percent over the past year.
