Kroger squelches post about free grocery giveaway
December 26, 2019
On Christmas Eve, Kroger was put in the unfortunate position of having to tell its customers that it was in fact not gifting free groceries for a year to four families, as claimed in a Facebook post doctored to look like it came from the company. “We are aware of this fraudulent page and are working to address this matter,” Kroger wrote in response. The fake posting had already received over 1,500 comments and was shared 2,600 times.
